Come and join us on our third interactive digital tour through Pakistan. On the occasion of the upcoming International Women's Day we will focus on the state of women in Pakistan profiling positive cases but at the same highlighting the challenges that Pakistani women are confronted with. The staff of our Pakistiani partner organisation Individual Land, headed by Gulmina Bilal, will introduce us to initiatives and personalities that fight for women rights and political representation.
We will speak about the role of women in the initial phase of politics after the foundation of the state, evolving from the presence of only two women in the first Constituent Assembly of Pakistan in 1947 to the election of the first female leader in the Muslim world in 1988, Benzair Bhutto. Further, we will focus on the evolution of Pakistani women's professional roles e.g. in the police, army and civil society. And we will shed light on challenges of patriarchy, abuse and violation of women's fundamental rights.
Following our first events on December 28 and February 6, Individual Land's team which comes from all over the country and speaks a broad variety of languages and dialects, would like to take you on yet another interactive short trip through Pakistan in cooperation with Alsharq REISE. After visiting metropolises like Karachi, Lahore or Islamabad and meeting people in remote valleys like the Kalasha in the Hindu Kush region, this time we focus on women struggles in Pakistan.
You can ask your questions at any time and enter into dialogue with the guides. Speaking of which: We are most looking forward to the humorous, self-deprecating and infectiously inspiring way in which our partners will present their exciting country.
