Local Currency

The official currency in Uzbekistan is the Sum (USZ). It is possible to exchange money (Euro or US dollars) anywhere in the country, but should only be done in banks and approved exchange offices. The banking network is only moderately developed. We recommend that you bring most of your money in cash, but also that you bring a credit card for withdrawing money. Withdrawals within the country are subject to withdrawal fees, which may vary depending on the bank in Germany.

The issue of security plays an important role in Uzbekistan.

In planning out tours, we follow the recommendations and statements issued by the German Federal Foreign Office. Our route only leads us through areas deemed safe by the Office. While doing so, we keep close contact with the German Embassy and local authorities on the ground.

In case of any change of the security situation, the tour route might be subject to according changes.

Only a passport with a minimum three months validity at the time of travel is required for entry into Uzbekistan, German citizens do not need to apply for a visa.
