On 1 February 2021, the new parliament elected in November was supposed to begin its work. But this did not happen: in the early hours of the same day, there was a military coup and the leaders of the new government, including the head of government Aung San Suu Kyi and the president, were arrested.
But how did this happen? And what exactly is happening in Myanmar today? These are not the only questions we want to answer during an 1.5 hour talk to different activists and experts.
In addition to an introduction about Myanmar's history and politics, we will shed light on the current events in a variety of ways. We talk to different organizations and people who follow the protest movement very closely, both in and outside Myanmar.
